The Doctorate in Educational Administration (Ed.D.) program at South Carolina State University is designed for educators who are interested in obtaining a terminal degree. The program provides a broad conceptual framework in leadership theory and research. Individuals who have obtained an Ed.S. (Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration) may also pursue the Ed.D., as the next education career goal. Additionally, the Ed.D. is uniquely suited for educators certifiable as principals and superintendents. Students in the program will learn from experienced faculty, many of whom previously served as district administrators and superintendents. The program only requires 27 semester hours plus 9 semester hours in dissertation preparation beyond the Ed.S.
